Literacy, Singing, and Science

Singing helps children hear the distinct sounds that make up a word.  This is an important early literacy skill.  Songs and science both teach new vocabulary and introduce new ideas and concepts.


--Sing with your child in the car, on a walk, or at home.  you don't need a perfect voice, just enthusiasm.

I am the Val Verde County Librarian in Del Rio, Texas.  We were approved for an Impact Grant.  We are working to implement "Every Child Ready to Read" with these funds.  We are new to this.  If you have advice, suggestions, etc., please communicate with me.

Hi everyone! Jefferson County Public Library (Colorado) is working on the launch of a program that will bring early literacy enhanced storytimes to targeted in-home and private daycare centers that serve low-income families.
