Hi everyone! Jefferson County Public Library (Colorado) is working on the launch of a program that will bring early literacy enhanced storytimes to targeted in-home and private daycare centers that serve low-income families. Volunteers will be recruited and trained for this purpose. They will make regular visits to the sites, offering storytimes and early literacy tips for daycare providers, as we...ll as take home sheets and suggested activities for parents that will directly relate to the content of the storytimes.  I am seeking information, ideas, and advice on how to measure the effectiveness of such a program. Does anyone have experience with creating measurement tools for early literacy-based outreach (I did find ideas from "Every Child Ready for School" by stoltz/Czarnecki/Wilson)? Thank you!

Besides HighScope's very effective "ELSA" - Early Literacy Skills Assessment, which is under $200, you might look at Get It, Got It, Go http://ggg.umn.edu/   Another idea is to contact Dr. Eliza Dresang at the University of Washington for ideas.  I hope this helps!
